After a ThinkPad T43 went up in smoke at the Los Angeles International Airport recently, Lenovo has announced that the poor machine used a Sony battery. It is for the very first time that any Lenovo laptop has caught fire. Earlier, Dell, Apple and Toshiba had recalled a lot of affected batteries. Both the Lenovo and Sony are investigating the heavily damaged ThinkPad T43 to know the root reason of the problem.

I own an IBM T43 laptop. Do you have a battery part number so I can check to see if mine is affected?
If so, what is the procedure to correct the problem? Has there been a recall issued?
Thanks for your anticipated help!
Rob
