Intel Intos New Core 2 Duo T5200 Processor Silently

Intel has quietly announced a new Core 2 Duo processor by the name of T5200.The T5200 is cheaper as compared to the previous T5500 owing to its reduced Front Side Bus. While the Merom1.66GHz, the brand new T5500 clocks at 1.60GHz. For now, T5200 can’t be configured on a custom-built machine from the global leaders like HP and Dell. However, the Core 2 Duo T5200 stuffed pre-built laptops are available via online stores.

Sony Unveils Limited Edition ‘James Bond’ Laptop

While we saw the special edition Sony Ericsson James Bond handset, It’s time for the ‘James Bond’ laptop. Sony guys seem to have taken a break from the battery explosion issue and unveiled a “James Bond” series featuring the Sony Vaio TX laptop and a Cyber-shot 7.2 megapixel digital camera as a part of promotional tool for the upcoming james Bond movie “Casino Royale”. Coming in eye-catching dark briefcases, the Casino Royale spy gear boasts evry item marked with ’007′. So, the limited edition James Bond laptop will be named Sony VAIO VGNTX007C. The salient features of the machine are a 11.1″ WXGA widescreen with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels integrating the XBRITE technology for quality color and brightness. The special edition Sony VAIO VGNTX007C will start shipping from November 15 for a price of US $4,299.99.

Asus Takes Wraps Off Two Leather-clad Notebooks

Just in time for the holiday season, Asus has rolled out two new leather bound notebooks named the W6 and upgraded S6. The Asus W6 comes rocking a 13.3′ WXGA widescreen with an option of stuffing Intel’s T5500 / T5600 / T7200 Core 2 Duo processor. And for the gadget-freak ladies, Asus S6 comes blushing in camel color along with a 11.1-inch WXGA screen, 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth, S-Video out, five USB 2.0 inputs, and an ExpressCard slot. The Asus S6 runs on a Intel Core Duo L2300 / L2400 processor. There is no word on the pricing and availability of the two.

Toshiba announced ‘Satellite M100′ for Korean market

Toshiba has finally launched the 14′ entertainment notebook ‘Satellite M100′ for the Korean market. The salient features of the M100 notebook are the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Harman-cardon speaker, ultra-slim remote control, ATI mobility Radeon X1400 256MB graphics, and a ‘clear view LCD’. The Satellite M100 is expected to hit the Korean stores for around 1,640,000 KRW.

Sony to Ship World’s Lightest Notebook in December

At a meager weight of 898 grams, Sony will start shipping the world’s lightest notebook, the ‘Vaio G’ in the month of December. At such a light weight, Sony has managed to bless the machine with a 12.1 inch screen with a 1024×768 display, Intel 945GMS Express graphics, 80GB odisk, 1.5GB memory, fingerprint reader, 802.11a/b/g Wifi, and Bluetooth. Well, you don’t have the Merom processor here; you can opt for either a Celeron or Core Solo 1.06GHz U1300 or 1.2GHz U1400 processor. The type ‘G’ lappy will sell for around $1,836. Hats off to Sony!

Frontier’s 15.4-incher FRNV71 BTO Boasts the Merom Power

Japanese company Frontier Kouziro has rolled out a new 15.4-incher laptop named FRNV71 BTO powered by the Core 2 Duo processor. You can also opt for the base configuration that integrates 1.46GHz Celeron M 410 CPU. The new FRNV71 BTO clocks at 1.66GHz T5500 Core 2 Duo processor and features a wide 15.4′ WXGA screen with not so tempting 1,280 x 800 display. Other salient specs include 256MB of RAM, 60GB HDD, a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, as gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, a multi-card reader and ExpressCard/54. Surely, the connectivity options make the machine worth a pick. The Frontier FRNV71 BTO is priced at 129,900 yen ($1,106).

Hitachi plans 200GB and 250GB notebook hard drives for 2007

Hitachi has announced its laptop-use hard drive plans for the year 2007. It will ship the new 200GB 2.5-inch TravelStar running at 7200rpm and a 250GB spinning at 5400rpm. While the former will start shipping in the Q1, the latter will be made available in the second half of 2007. Both the new drives will be based on perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology and data encryption for enhanced security. At the moment, the widely used laptop hard drives are the Toshiba MK2035GSS (PATA) and Fujitsu MHV2200BT (SATA) that boast 200GB of storage space and 4200rpm rotational speed.
