It comes as no surprise that Sony Corp. is about to start a worldwide replacement program for certain batteries that make use of Sony-manufactured lithium ion cells. The good thing is that Sony has come open this time and addressed the problem of battery over-heating and notebook explosions publicly.
The sufferers of the affected Sony batteries are Dell, Apple, Toshiba and Panasonic. Sony will also discuss the matter with the OEM customers who use these battery packs. Since the computer-specific housing for the Sony-manfactured batteries is done by OEM, Sony is putting the burden on them too.
Anyways, the concerned move for a global replacement program by Sony is worth appreciation. For now, we don’t have much info on the program. Keep tuned for the next update
