
Sony will soon start shipping its Vaio VGN-TXN10 ultra portable notebooks integrating the wide area network technology, EV-DO Revision A from Sprint. Moreover, Sony is claiming the machine to be ready for the Sprint’s PowerVision network that will boost the download rates from 2.5Mbps to 3.1Mbps and the upload rate from 150Kbps to 1.8Mbps.
The new Vaio VGN-TXN10 features an 11.1in XBrite display, a Core Solo single-core processor, dual-layer DVD+R/RW optical drive, Bluetooth and 802.11b/g. The machine weighs 1.3kg and will cost around $2,300.

I don’t know much about EV-DO or Sprint’s PowerVision, but this could be an interesting move. I’ve personally used the TX790 series with the WWAN thru Cingular, and I found it to be a little slow at times. I guess it’s comparable to dial-up, but...ugh, I can’t go back to dial up anymore! If Sprint’s plan is as good as they’re claiming, then this could be good (I really like the TX series), but you know how these claims go...
