Following the Samsungs suit SanDisk has also come up with 32-GB Flash drive for the notebooks with company claiming that this drive will make notebooks so fast that they will load Vista in 35-seconds flat. Flash is being widely used in MP3 players and Digicams and as no mechanics (as in HDD) are there so the processing and retrieval of data is fast and moreover you can also look for a extended battery life as flash drives use less power compared to HDD’s. The only sphere in which these Flash drives are lagging is the storage capacity and the high prices that are keeping industry away from adopting them. Other manufacturers are also coming up with Hybrid hard disks which uses both the normal hard disks and flash; that claim to give faster speeds and large storage capacities as well.
