NVIDIA is looking forward to roll out GeForce 8 series video cards for notebooks just in time for the release of the Intel Santa Rosa platform. Also known as Centrino Pro, the Santa Rosa platform is scheduled to make a debut by the end of Q1 this year or by the beginning of Q2. That means we will very soon witness the GeForce 8 shipping for inclusion in the multimedia notebooks.
Nvidia’s Chief Executive Jen-Hsun Huang said:
We are ramping production on our GeForce 8 family of notebook GPUs, the industry’s first DirectX 10 and high-definition video GPU for notebooks.
The DirectX 10 is a suite of multimedia application programming interfaces (APIs) that helps improve the in-game and multimedia performance of the computer. Anyhow, the unit shipments of GeForce 8 family of graphics processors will be done by the end of Q4 this year or in the beginning of 2008.
