While Intel’s Quadro Chips are heading for a release in November, it has announced its plans to have an eighty (80) core CPU by 2010. Intel claimed that the 80-core chip is the first programmable microprocessor with teraflop performance capabilities. Each core will run at 3.1 GHz and is mounted with 20MB of SRAM. This will deliver a bandwidth of trillion bytes per second. Well, Intel is really thinking too big but everything can be taken as experimental at the moment. Intel CEO, Paul Otellini hopes that the powerful processor might take five years from now to get completed.
