Anyone of you who is using a laptop knows that sometimes these lappies can get so hot that they can even cause injury. And if you don’t detect the heat then this heat can also reduce male fertility.
Intel has now developed a solution for these extra-hot laptops and is awaiting a patent. The technology makes use of light to sense when a computer is getting too hot to handle and then reduces the power.
Heating inside a laptop is uneven. The more power thirsty components get most hot and ordinary thermometers are unreliable as they may take a long time to detect that rise in heat. Intel reckons that a simple sensor can provide a better and an efficient way to prevent injury.
The inside of the laptop is coated with a thermochromic material. Such a material changes color in response to heat. A lamp inside the chassis continuously illuminates this material and the change it system temperature can be figured out when the light changes color from cool green to hot red.
When the system gets too hot to handle, software starts a fan to cool things down.
