Gateway will be very soon rolling out its 12.1-inch E-100M business sub-notebbok, which will be the among the first to offer Intel’s Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage processor in an ultra-portable laptop. The new processor integrated will be the new U7600 ULV CPU.
Well, the inclusion of the ultra-low voltage Merom processor will add another $75 to the existing E-100M’s price of $1,299. Currently it boasts a 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo U1400 ULV processor with a 533MHz FSB and 2MB of L2 cache. Other specs include 512MB of DDR2 memory, a 40GB SATA hard drive, and 802.11a/b/g.
Anyhow, the new U7600 ULV processor has a TDP (thermal design power) of 10 watts as compared to the current U1400’s TDP of 5.5 watts. This downside might affect the sale of the notebook.
