Finally the OLPC project is seeing its 1000 laptops off its production lines for rigorous testing but already its XO emulation software have hit Internet. OLPC news has just published the step by step procedure to install OLPC XO on MAC and Tuttlesvc has got the step by step procedure for windows.
Here is how you can do it.
For Mac:
1) Firstly you will have to unzip the olpc image
2) Then double click on the olpc.vmx file
3) Rest of the work will be done by the Mac you just sit and use
For Windows the procedure is a little bit lengthy.
1) You will need the VMware player in windows to run olpc.
2) After downloading find the olpc VMware configuration file
3) Let the player change the computers UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) and then click through the error message
4) You have got it! Play with it temper with it and let us know the results.
The laptops produced will undergo rigorous testing in the hands of children too see how they fare before being put into real mass production.
