Recently, Dell came up with their new Digg-inspired customer relations site dubbed IdeaStorm. The site is open for users’ recommendations to Dell and the one suggestion that raised eyebrows was about the upcoming dell laptops should be Linux equipped.
Now, Dell has commented that ‘the Linux-loaded desktops and laptops will be the first user-generated suggestions that it will follow.’ For the moment, Dell is in talks with Novell to certify corporate client products for Linux, with its OptiPlex desktops, Latitude notebooks and Dell Precision workstations included.
Since Vista is too distended to run on a sub-$500 notebook, Dell might be looking for pre-installing an OS that won’t make its low-end hardware look like scrap. Earlier, Dell announced its laptops with theft-protection.
